OverView

Caterpillar wanted to explore an online store presence to deal directly with B2B and B2C customers. Inital focus was directed at their extensive generator offerings. The goal was to create a mobile responsive environment that provided access to direct purchases through Caterpillar. The experience needed to seamlessly exist in their current web presence and branding.

The Challenge

Caterpillar had no online store presence, which needed to be built out from both the visual and UI / UX design experiences. They have an extensive offering of generators for different uses and needs. They needed to have the abilty to have occurences for both B2B and B2C customers.

The Solution

Paths for the BSB as well as the B2C were created. User profiles were constructed based on data collected to provide the most complete offerings for both sets of users and their particual needs and preferences. The design strategy focused on creating visually appealing product displays, integrating high-quality images, and implementing a cohesive brand identity across the website. In parallel, created seamless functionality, mobile responsiveness, and integration of robust e-commerce features like secure checkout and personalized recommendations.

The Conclusion

The Caterpillar store creation process was interesting on several levels. Having the opportunity to participate in a project with such a well known, reputable company. Working on a product that was, at that time, new ground for them to cover. Working to facilitate a product that would cover their need to appeal to both B2B and B2C market paths.
